LEGACY CHURCH OF CHRIST
& YOUTH BENEVOLENCE CENTER
Legacy Church of Christ is a 32,000 sq. ft. addition to an existing 45,000 sq. ft. church facility. The addition provided a state of the art sanctuary with a concave sloped auditorium floor and acoustically designed ceilings. The ceilings are a lenticular design that runs 140 feet from one side to the convex center vaulted peak to the other side. The structure is highlighted by a massive array of vaulted trusses, spanning 140 feet across the auditorium. The structure is comprised of 5 ft. deep grade beams supporting the slab on grade and conventional steel framework. The auditorium itself is designed to hold 1,500 people, not including the concourse and meeting areas. FDC coordinated closely with the owner throughout the project to minimize the impact of the day to day operations during demolition, tie-in, site utilities, and extension of existing systems.

The Youth Benevolence Center addition at Legacy Church of Christ is a 12,000 sq. ft. two story extension of an existing facility. The ground up construction is designed with classrooms, a 5,000 sq. ft. lecture hall, and several multi-purposes / flex rooms throughout, loading dock, warehouse storage and customer reception area for a high volume food pantry. The structure consists of 5 ft. deep grade beams, slab on grade and conventional structural steel. The second floor is slab on metal deck. The primary challenge was to match the roofline perfectly to provide a seamless transition from old to new. The interior consists of both exposed structure and suspended grid ceilings and multi-color accent walls. A variety of flooring including carpet, VCT, ceramic tile, sealed concrete and decorative stained and dyed concrete are used on the project. The YBC was completed in April of 2008.
